FAQ | CheckGen Cosmetic Claims Substantiation

Frequently asked questions.

How do you choose participants?

We work with you to understand the main benefits of your product and who it is for. We then recruit participants who match those criteria. If your brand works closely with skincare clinics, we can partner with them on the study if you would like.

How many participants do we need?

We recommend at least 25 participants in the test group, paired with a control group of 25, so 50 people in total. We understand that pricing is an important factor for many brands, and we work within your price range to deliver the optimal project for you.

How long does a study take?

It depends on what you want to test. For long-term formulation effects we recommend 60 days, and we have also run studies as short as 7 days.

Is sampling invasive?

No. Sampling is non-invasive and painless, and it does not disturb the skin.

When will we receive the report?

We aim to deliver your report within a week of receiving the processed results.

What can we use the results for?

Your results can support conference presentations and posters, and conversations with distributors and retail partners. If you want to sell into skincare clinics, you can use them there too. They can also be used to train your floor staff, so they can give customers a clearer understanding of how the product works when they are deciding whether to buy.

Can you run conventional measures alongside the molecular analysis?

Yes. If you would like conventional skin measurements in the same study, we can include them and pair them with the molecular results.

Are your studies run under ethics approval?

Yes. Our studies run under ethics approval, which keeps the option open for you to publish the work in the future if you wish.

Do you work with international brands?

Yes. We work with brands in Australia and internationally.
